Arctic sea ice

These diagrams show both past and predicted changes in Arctic sea ice. Researchers track both sea ice extent, the area of the Arctic Ocean covered by at least 15% sea ice, and sea ice thickness.

Since the 1979, researchers have had access to satellite records of sea ice extent, and in 2010 satellite records of sea ice thickness commenced.
