Expedition inside an Arctic glacier

Join a research team from Aberystwyth University and the British Antarctic Survey as they travel to explore inside a glacier in the Arctic.

You will visit the ‘science village’ of Ny Alesund and learn about the surrounding area and the UK Arctic Research Station, before joining the team as they descend into the middle of a glacier to explore channels deep inside the ice.

The behavior of these channels can affect the speed at which a glacier melts. Understanding how they change is important to discover how melting glaciers in the Arctic will impact on the rate of sea level rise.
