Researching the reef

The XL Catlin Seaview Survey was a global coral research project running from 2012 to 2017. The survey was made up of two teams, a shallow reef team conducting a photographic survey of many of the world's major reef systems, and a deep reef team spending time researching specific sites, including investigating how the shallow reef and the deep reef are connected. This gallery shows the team in action as they worked to explore and share the reef with an audience of millions.
