To keep warm, some penguins stand together in large groups. They are always moving so that all the penguins have a chance to get warm in the middle.

Penguins have two different types of feathers. They have an inner layer of downy feathers to keep warm and an outer layer of sleek feathers which are waterproof.

Penguins eat krill and fish which live near the surface of the ocean. To catch their prey, they swim through the ocean using their wings like flippers. Their wings are not shaped to fly in the air,yet when penguins swim, they look like they're “flying” through the water.

To stop their feet from getting cold, penguins stand on their heels and use their tails to support themselves.

Penguins have a streamlined shape to let them glide through the water.
