How is wave energy converted into electricity?

Wave energy is a developing form of electricity generation whereby the energy of waves in our oceans and seas in harvested using floating devices. These devices are known as Wave Energy Converters (WECs) and they work by using the waves to pump fluid from section to section.

WECs don't currently produce that much electricity, but it is thought that with development, the power of the waves could generate a lot of electricity which can power a lot of homes and businesses, especially in countries surrounded by the ocean, like the United Kingdom.
