Reuters Foundation: Korean pop bringing unlikely kids together

A Thomson Reuters Foundation news team took part in the last video exchange between students at Connaught Schools for Girls in London and their peers at Al Faloujah/Haifa School from Damascus. Students meet three times over Skype to share their stories and ideas about what quality education means to them, as part of My Voice-My School.

Despite living in very different circumstances, young people discovered they have many things in common, not the least the love for k-pop music. The report highlights these similarities, as well as Palestine refugee students’ plea to world leaders to support their education, after drastic cuts to UNRWA’s budget.

The news story was also featured on Reuters, Voice of America, the Jerusalem Post, Al Arabiya, and Arab News.
