Many plastic bottles and jars are made from a type of plastic called polyethylene terephthalate or PET. PET is the plastic most commonly used to make single-use plastic bottles. Around 13 billion of these bottles are produced in the UK each year and recent government statistics suggest only 7.5 billion are recycled.
