Lesson overview

In this lesson students will use Google Expeditions to explore the 7 New Wonders of the World, in groups they will each research a Wonder and create a presentation using pictures, then present it to their peers in the form of a tour guide.

Lesson steps

1. Introduction (10 mins)
   Lead a discussion presenting the guiding questions and check comprehension. Où est situé ce monument? Quand a-t-il été construit? En quell année / Quel siècle a-t-il été construit? Qui a construit ce monument? Pourquoi ou dans quel but a-t-il été construit? Quelle était sa fonction? Quel genre ou type de monument est-ce? Combien mesure ce monument? Quelle est sa hauteur / sa longueur?
   Students read text here and answer the questions.
   
2. Expedition (20 mins)
   

   Students work in groups of 7, each one researching one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. Students complete the Student Sheet found in the Lesson resources section, using the guiding questions to structure their presentation. They are to use pictures to illustrate their presentation.
   

3. Activity (30 mins)
   Students create a brochure for tourists, selecting one of the 7 Wonders. This will include a map and fun facts collected for the presentation they were previously asked to create.
   
4. Extension
   Students analyse each other’s brochures identifying Passé composé and Passé Simple tenses.
