Seagrass collage

Add the sea

If you are not using blue background paper, add the sea using blue (or other colours!) torn areas of paper or from magazines. Aim to fill the top three-quarters of the background.

Add the seabed

Add in the seabed using torn areas of muddy colour (or use your imagination). This should overlap with the sea area and fill the bottom quarter of the background.

Add the seagrass

Using cut or torn strips of green (tissue) paper, add the seagrass. Lots is good!

Add animals (single shape option)

Use a stencil (see guidance on making your own) to trace the outline of different seagrass animals on plain paper or from magazines. Glue these to your seagrass meadow scene.

Add animals (mosaic technique)

If you are using solid-coloured animal shapes, decorate them with small squares of different-coloured paper, for example, from old magazines. To make the mosaic squares, tear long strips and then small squares off the end to decorate your shape.

Mosaic seahorse example

They can end up looking like this. Don't forget to find colours and textures that suit your animal.

Add information

Cut our templates or tear pieces of paper to add information to your seagrass meadow. You can also write directly on the paper.

Complete your collage

Don't forget to add a title and sign your masterwork!
