The Ocean Heroes unit guides children through six carefully sequenced lessons that build knowledge about our ocean planet and why it matters to all life on Earth. Starting with basic geographical understanding and temperature zones, students progress to exploring diverse ocean habitats, animal adaptations, human connections, environmental changes, and how they can take positive action as "ocean heroes."
This curriculum integrates seamlessly with the KS1 Science and Geography programmes of study while introducing age-appropriate climate literacy concepts. Through hands-on activities, sensory exploration, and creative expression, students develop both knowledge and emotional connections to marine environments.
